Calling all heritage enthusiasts
A woman’s lifelong love of vintage vehicles has led to the creation of a new business that is dedicated to restoring them to former glory
Melanie Pursglove has used her 20 years’ experience in the paint industry to launch The Vintage Paint Company - employing the very latest in high technology to ensure precise original colour matching for the world’s oldest surviving vehicles and machinery
She is creating a “Vintage Members Forum” on their new company web site (www.vintagepaint.com) to encourage preservation enthusiasts worldwide to exchange knowledge and preservation stories
“ Running a 30 year old family paint business meant that I have always had a passion for paint and a desire to see vehicles restored and preserved for posterity,” says Melanie, who is also a keen student of Second World War history having researched the wartime experiences of extended family, many of whom have seen active and distinguished service.
“There are few things so satisfying as preserving a part of history, for everyone to enjoy, so that it is not lost for ever.”
With the increasing size of businesses, individual requirements which could be awkward and time consuming were in danger of being neglected. So Melanie saw the Vintage Paint Company as the answer to this need – a company dedicated to individual projects and paint needs. With the aid of strategic partners and a UK manufacturing base, her new company is now offering vintage restoration enthusiasts the opportunity of having colours matched to their individual requirements no matter however unusual and however small the quantity
“We provide a guaranteed exact colour match, no matter how old or rare the vehicle,” confirms Melanie.
“Whatever a customer’s needs, we can supply the necessary paint precisely. There is no longer any need for compromise - we can make history come alive again! As well as tractors, we cover Second World War vehicles and motor bikes – basically, anything metal and historical.”
Melanie adds: “Not only can we provide such technical perfection, but our customers will also benefit from our own empathy with their needs and wishes - we have a vast cumulative portfolio of experience in the sector spanning well over a quarter of a century.
“Our paints are cost effective, of very high quality and are individual solutions to painting requirements.”
Vintage Paint’s web site will feature restoration stories and the company is keen to hear from anyone with a story to tell and museums who might have a restoration project in mind
The new company is also looking to build strategic alliances with other committed people in its sector. Melanie identifies “considerable” potential for new jobs and is targeting turnover of half a million pounds by the third year of operation.
In addition, the company would love to hear from clubs, museums and societies – indeed anyone with a passion for preserving vehicle heritage.
